Community Legal Services CEO Jeff Harvey, Esq. was interviewed by WESH 2 on October 2, 2025, discussing common misconceptions about legal aid and the realities of how legal aid organizations function and serve the community.
As part of October Pro Bono Awareness month, Harvey walked viewers through the process of how volunteer attorneys work with the organization and how the design of CLS allows flexible participation of volunteer attorneys and other staff.
“Community Legal Services wants a world where every person can recognize they have a legal issue and then understands or is able to navigate the system to resolve that issue,” explained Harvey.
When asked what viewers should take away about legal aid, Harvey mentioned that it is important for people to first recognize that a particular problem that they are having is a legal issue.
“The earlier you can get to someone and ask the questions, the better,” recommended Harvey. “The longer it goes on, the harder it is to resolve.”
